Shetland 6U

Ages 4-6
USA Baseball (USABat)BBCOR .50

Barrel cap: 2.625 in

PONY Baseball Shetland 6U requires a bat marked USA Baseball (USABat) or BBCOR .50. The barrel may not exceed 2.625 in. Typically ages 4-6.

PONY 2026 rulebook Rule 8-C(3): all bats must carry the USA Baseball mark except the -3 BBCOR bat; 8-C(4): 2-3/4 in barrels prohibited in all divisions. `wood` omitted as ambiguous: 8-C's opening lists 'single piece wooden' bats as acceptable, but 8-C(3) requires the USA mark on all non-BBCOR bats with no wood exemption (unlike Little League's explicit one) — a plain solid-wood bat cannot be confirmed legal from PONY's own text.

Pinto 8U

Ages 7-8

PONY 2026 rulebook Rule 8-C(5): Colt 16U and Palomino 19U may only use 2-5/8 in -3 BBCOR certified bats.

Palomino 19U

Ages 17-19
BBCOR .50

Barrel cap: 2.625 in

PONY Baseball Palomino 19U requires a bat marked BBCOR .50. The barrel may not exceed 2.625 in. Typically ages 17-19.

PONY 2026 rulebook Rule 8-C(5): Colt 16U and Palomino 19U may only use 2-5/8 in -3 BBCOR certified bats.

Thorobred 23U

Ages 18-23
Solid one-piece wood

PONY Baseball Thorobred 23U requires a bat marked Solid one-piece wood. Typically ages 18-23.

PONY 2026 rulebook Rule 8-C(6): Thorobred 23U must use wooden bats only, as specified by Major League Baseball.
